As a FEMA Floodplain and Insurance Supervisor I have had the opportunity to lead many teams in response to disasters. The work is urgent and technical. We quickly organize a team; coordinate with state and local officials to define clear objectives and tasks. Then go out into the field and get it done.

The recent emphasis on Emergency Management; shifting more responsibility to state, tribal and local response is our new reality. In some ways this change is a long time coming and creates an opportunity for community preparedness. We need to have the skills to immediately and effectively respond.

Small rural communities have the spirit and ability to come to the aid of their neighbors in a time of need. What they require are the resources and program knowledge to know where to get the support they need.

FloodLogic is about managing flood risk before and after an event. I take a practical approach so community staff and citizens can understand challenges and goals. Buy-in is essential at every step along the way.

Floodlogic.com is returning after a eleven-year hiatus. Once I transition from FEMA back to private practice, I will update the website to let you know projects I am working on and services offered.

One thing I do know, the focus will be on supporting rural communities because that is where I call home.
